This transmitter, a later addition to the Musick Point Radio Group’s collection, was used originally as an aeronautical beacon, transmitting its ID in modulated Morse Code from Shelly Bay, Wellington.
In appearance, it is very similar to the Collier and Beale 873.
In 2020 and 2021 MPRG members modified the transmitter to operate on 7125 kHz in the 40-metre amateur band, where it is currently used on the weekly ‘SPAM’ AM net.
