1978: ZLD asks to keep transmitter 873

After the New Zealand Post Office Regional Engineer offered to give Auckland Radio’s transmitter 873 to the Museum of Transportation & Technology, two other managers quickly voiced their objections.

The day after the offer letter was sent, the Chief Technician (Radio), BT Harnett, sent the following letter to the Divisional Engineer:

The manager of Auckland Radio, Dennis Horan, also wrote to the Divisional Engineer:

Although it is hard to read, the handwritten note at the bottom of the letter above appears to say: “Mr Diamond, Is it out yet? (I hope)”
