It wouldn’t be Field Day without a few interesting bits, would it? Although everything went smoothly as far as setting up the field station on the western paddock, one or two little glitches raised their heads as the day wore on. The garage door had not been opened for so long it took a bit of brute force and arrogance to deal with the large bush preventing if from opening, and one or two minor but essential items had been forgotten but were easily replaced.
All went well until it started to rain around teatime, so we shuffled things around under the camper awning to maintain as dry an environment as possible. By about 7 pm the rain was so heavy and constant that there was a real possibility that the vehicles would get bogged down, so a decision was made to move to the courtyard in front of the building and operate from the van.
As the weather was uncertain for Sunday we remained there for the rest of the weekend. Fortunately, it remained fine long enough on the Sunday to dry the tent out.
