Members of the Musick Point Radio Group have a number of opportunities to operate ZL1ZLD on HF (high frequency, also known as short-wave) bands.
In the West Operating Room, the equipment line-up features an Icom IC-7700 transceiver with PW-1 linear amplifier capable of 1,000 watts output, connected to several antennas, including the tri-band yagi on the West Tower.
This equipment was kindly donated by Icom Japan, following an approach by MPRG member Yasuo Ariyama ZL1JAP, and installed in August 2010.
The West Operating Room also features an Icom IC-706 Mk IIG transceiver which is remote controlled via the Internet, and a few other classic transceivers.
In the East Operating Room is a Kenwood TS-440 transceiver connected to an all-band dipole and a tri-band yagi on the East Tower, plus the vintage desks for AM and 630-metre radiotelegraph operations.
